The weather on Rhigar reminded Rayn of the time he had spent on Hoth. The cold was much less intense here though, being that it was just a big frozen rock, as opposed to a big frozen ocean like Hoth.
The abandoned Chiss base had not been difficult to find. Despite being located on a mountain ridge, the mass of metal supports in the facility still rendered it visible on his ship's navigational instruments.
Rayn peered back into the cockpit. Last he had seen of Marekis, he had been passed out in the back, muttering to himself while a Bacta IV drip worked its way through his system, "Hey partner. You awake?"

Marekis rolled to one side, trying to get himself comfortable. His wound was barely more than a scar now and he found much pleasure in be able to maneuver and shift around as normal again. He grunted and grabbed at support to lift himself up. With a large stretch, arching his back, Marekis let out a massive yawn. He reached forward and slapper the back of Rayns head.
"We're not partners. We're mutual travalers. Get it right or the next hit won't be so forgiving."
Marekis peered out at the cold, frosty planet of Rhigar. Marekis hadn't seen this much snow since the time he had run into Rayn. His master called him to Hoth and pit the two in combat. His eyes narrowed as the fierce fight roamed in the damp dark corridors of his mind. Marekis had developed the bad habit of letting his mind drift as of recently, ever since the Grey's chamber. It was affecting him on many different levels, mostly emotionally, which could potentially get him killed. Much of his strength comes from the lack of warm emotions, such as love, sorrow, fear. But recently it all started to flow back, along with snippets of his past life that shook him to the bone.
He shook his head to clear his mind and slapped Rayn once more.
"So what's on the to do list?"

Rayn leered at him for a moment, rubbing the back of his head. For a thought's breadth he contemplated a knuckle stike to his trachea. The moment passed. "Figure out where Jeluvitas stashed all the choice secrets. Avoid traps. Sounds easy enough."
As they approached the large Durasteel door that was the entrance to the base Rayn put one hand on the door. He sensed only the faintest traces of living presence left by Chiss hundreds of years ago. He did not feel any recent presence. Particularly not Jeluvitas'.
"I don't feel any trace of Jeluvitas yet. Either he was concealing his presence very, very well- which is entirely possible- or he had another means of getting in. Either way, there don't seem to be any traps on this door."

Marekis scoffed at Rayn's comment "Obviously you don't know Jeluvitas well. Easy was not in the description."
It was then they came upon the large Durasteel door, enterence to the refined Chiss quarters. He laughed a moment and jabbed Rayn with an elbow. "See, what did I tell you!" He examined the door for a moment nodding to Rayn. Jeluvitas had been in here. Perhaps not this way, but here, this plain for sure. Marekis took a step back and twisted his head to a side letting a loud snap loose. He gently moved Rayn to the side and prepared himself.
"Knock KNOCK!" And with that Marekis charged at the door slamming his body weight against it with a little help from his force powers.

The door made a loud booming sound, like a metal sheet being, followed by an audible crack, but otherwise did not budge.
Rayn sighed, "Here." he said, reaching into the satchel he had brought. He pulled out some small bundle of leather and metal and tossed it to Marekis. It was one of his gauntlets.

Marekis grinned at his gauntlet as he strapped it onto his wrist once more. Finally he didn't feel naked. With his welcomed friend back he activated it. It's glowing beacon radiated forward on activation. With that Marekis ran and leaped swinging down onto the door with a large swipe.

Once the door was well mangled the two headed inside. He activated a flashlight as they walked through the corridors- making sure to keep Marekis well ahead of him. He had only brought one of the Firrereo's gauntlets, in case he needed to protect himself, but Rayn was confident he could be just as dangerous as he could with both of them.
As they proceeded they checked several rooms to see if there was anything of interest; so far they had just been offices or storage closets. Rayn stayed close to the wall, brushing his fingertips along the surface while he walked to help get a better reading of the place. So far he continued to feel nothing out of the ordinary.
Suddenly he froze in place as he felt the ice-cold sensation of danger. "Move!" he shouted as he leapt back from where a pair of figures dropped down from the ceiling.

It seemed Marekis had a habit of bringing himself to cold, dark, and damp environments. Luckily it suited him just fine, as it would with any mass murdering psychopath. And as it in turn was a place of importance to his late master. But for what reason? There didn't seem to be anything of great importance or powerful artifacts of doom! So why would the stale sith find this place so interesting to come here on and off.
With a quick whip of his neck, Marekis turned to the danger which befell them. He jumper forward, rolling, and bringing himself to his feet activating his gauntlet. He was seperated from Rayn, but he figured he could handle himself.

Death stared Rayn in the face, a high-pitched hum sounding as it brought the heavy repeating blaster built in to its arm to bear on its target. He leaped forward, to the right of the YVH droid as a dozen blaster bolt went sizzling above him, whooshing down the corridor and pelting the wall next to him.
There was a flash and a sizzle as his beskad tore though the blaster's charging chamber rendering it useless. Unfortunately it seemed to have some sort of safety built in which kept it from exploding and causing additional damage. Instead the droid leaped back and disconnected the blaster from its arm to keep it from slowing it down.
Its right arm lit up as it activated a built-in stun gauntlet.

Marekis began to rush to Rayn's aid, but was soon discovered by the opposite YVH droid. It's eyes radiated a red hue as it regesitered him as a target. It lifted it's grenade launcher and began to lob grenade's, one after the other, sending shrapnel and debree onto Marekis, forcing him to retreat from Rayns aid. He could not slow down for a moment or risk having his arm blown off.
Circling around the droid Marekis attempted to find an opening in it's guard. In response the droid dropped it's launcher at which Marekis leaped at it, activating his saber ready to deactivate it for good. But soon after dropping the launcher it presented a blaster cannon, spinning around in time to fire off a shot at Marekis.
Marekis eyes widened as he blocked the barrage of cannon fire with his gauntlet, barely enough time to breath. Landing on his feet next to the droid he was ready to impale it through. Not taking kindly to his attempts it reeled and kicked Marekis square in the chest, sending him flying across the chamber.

The droid turned its head at the same time he felt Marekis lurching toward him. He extended his sword hand, pillowing Marekis with a short force blast and stopping him gently. At the same time he pulled out his Bryar pistol and fired a quick volley of shots around Marekis to keep the droid from shooting for a moment. Though he knew it would only serve as a minor distraction, as its armor would regenerate quickly and easily from such low-power shots.
"Now!" he shouted to Marekis. At the same moment his own opponent, no longer distracted, came down on Rayn with its spiked, crackling, fist, Rayn side-stepped and parried the attack, squinting as sparks lanced off of his blade. He brought his blaster to bear and squeezed off a few shots at the droid, forcing him back and making him use his good ar to defend his vital spots. At that moment he used the Force to augment his reflexes- leaping up high to bounce off the corridor ceiling and land directly behind the droid. Before it realized what was happening Rayn slashed at its neck, shearing through the wires and circuits in lightly armored area.
As its head clattered to the floor, the YVH stood for a few moments and then crumpled to the floor.

Using the wall as leverage Marekis force jumped off the wall directly at his opponent. His gauntlet, burning red, charged forward slicing right through the center of the droids faceplate. Marekis landed on the other side, slowly turning to see the job was finished.
The droid sparked a moment and turned it's head slightly toward Rayn. Marekis lept forward and pushed the bot to the ground. His saber began to impale the droid several times. Marekis screamed as he ran it through over and over, not leaving any room to repair. Finally with a quick slice he severed it's head for good.
Marekis rose to his feet and took a step toward Rayn when the droid rattled for a moment. He quickly spun around and kicked the scrap and it died down.
"Damn things just need to stay dead."

"Yeah, they're pretty bad at that. We train against YVH at the citadel. Let's just say it isn't often we have to send any to the scrapyard."
The remainder of their search from that point was mostly uneventful. The greatest obstacles being a few collapsed floors on the upper levels and the further lack of light in the lower levels. It was there in the lowest sub-basement that Rayn felt something.
"Wait- here...." he felt a presence in this corridor more recently. He closed his eyes and let the sensations of the path come rolling into his mind as the imprints radiated from his surrounding. Smells, sounds, sights, all washing over him until he caught what he was looking for.
Jeluvitas.
In his mind's eye, there was a dark shape moving down the corridor. He followed it around a corner, as though he were in a waking dream.

Marekis stood where instructed. He had to admit it was nice to actually work together with someone. A lot of things may have been easier if he had always had Rayn along; although he might object to disemboweling the elderly, so maybe it was for the best.
The chamber around Marekis radiated energy. Marekis could feel in surrounding him, penetrating him. It all made him go back to his training with his master in energy manipulation. As a master Jeluvitas succeeded, but as a sith he could not master himself, nor the force. So he was bested.
"Have you found anything yet?"

Rayn could not hear what Marekis was saying to him, he simply kept walking, following the shadowy figure until he approached a door way. As the pseudo-vision faded he felt as though he had awoken from a daydream, "Wha- oh. Yeah, well I think this is it." He wiped off the the dust covering the door panel. MUNITIONS STORAGE, the sign read. The door was locked, but with a quick telekinetic breaking of the mechanism it opened.
He stepped inside and looked around with the flashlight. The room was the size of a small speeder maintenance shop, with its higher ceilings and larger floor space than the other rooms. The entire room was filled with boxes and crates piled high all around. As they began to navigate the maze of storage, Rayn once again stopped as his danger sense ran an icy hot blade down his spine. He thrust out his hand to keep Marekis from taking any further steps. "Move back..."

Marekis stepped back with a brow cocked. He was confused as the the nature of danger here. More droid? No couldn't be. Then what?
"What the hell is the problem now?"

Once they were at a sufficient distance Rayn picked up a piece of scrap metal. "Well-", he said merrily as he then tossed it ahead of where they had been walking. Rayn covered his eyes with his arm just before a there was a bright flash. All of the crates surrounding the spot made a crackle and popping noise as the CryoBan mine he had set off froze them to degrees hundreds below freezing. "That." he said, with his breath now misting in the air.

Marekis eyes lit up with surprise at the now frostbitten environment. He placed a hand on Rayns should and cocked a brow once more.
"Well that was pretty-" He paused for dramatic effect."Cool!"

Rayn kicked at one of the boxes, which crumbled at the touch. "Well, if you really like living on the edge I won't stop you from going that way, but I'm going to go ahead and find another way through."
He continued down another pathway, touching the crates along the way to get a read on where all the mines had been placed and adjusting their route accordingly.
"You know, I'm enjoying having you along. Ive gotta say, your wit is growing on me, despite the cynicism. And you're definitely a lot more interesting to talk to that most people in the Paladins."

Marekis grunted to himself remembering the Paladins. "Well they are a bunch of stale old fools" He had to admit, the Grey always seemed to large for their britches. Old stuffy coots who all had to say something about anything wrong with the galaxy. And they always had an answer for it. Or that is what they would have you believe.
Regardless, Marekis enjoyed Rayns company. Having a pulling restraint kept him in check, which while annoying and pestering, kept him out of some less than satisfactory situations. To say the least it was nice not having an entire planet breathing down his neck trying to kill him. Liberating .
