Odottaa landed on the planet that rancors originally came from. He figured that he may as well go to the source of them and get the most original ones. He landed in an open field and exited the ship, bringing his most important weapons with him, including the gun. He also brought with him a bio-scanner. He put in the general perameters of a rancor into the scanner and began to search for them.

The scanner came up with many dots all over the place. He found a group that was smaller than most of the closer ones, and headed towards it. they were living out of a small cave built into the ground. He saw one of them had a small nest that was filled with eggs. He reached for his dart rifle he had been given and lined up a shot on one of the rancors. He shot each one with an efficiency that rivaled stormtroopers, or at least the good ones. He waited a few minutes for the tranquilizers to take full effect. After they were all sound asleep, Odottaa went into the cave to steal one of the eggs. Heck, while he was at it, he might as well take all of them. He could sell them to some hutt or zoo. As he reached for one, he heard a menacing growl behind him followed by a loud roar. He turned around to see a full grown bull rancor standing behind him, and he wasn't happy about him touching the eggs.

The rancor roared again and swiped his claws along the ground as a challenge. It didn't want to harm its own eggs. It moved in closer, continuing to claw the ground in wide sweeps to keep this intruder from escaping. It brought its head in and gnashed its teeth to intimidate the intruder into dropping the eggs.

Odottaa slowly set down the eggs. he would come back for them. Then he rolled backwards to put some distance between himself and the rancor at the same time as pulling out his tranq gun as he prepared to shoot. He then realized that his gun was out of ammo, and began searching for his reloads. As he searched, he realized that he hadn't brought any extra ammo. That meant he would have to kill this rancor before the rest woke up if he were to succeed in his mission. He threw the gun to the wall and withdrew his two vibroblades and efficiently combined them into one blade. Then he drew his bowcaster and made a potshot at the monsters stomach.

The rancor noticed with assurance that the puny thief in front of it had set down the eggs, but had put something else in its hand. A bright light flashed from the thief and the Rancor ducked around it, having seen in the past what those bright lights can do to it. That the thief was fighting back made the rancor even angrier, and it bellowed loudly and surged in to try to snap up the thief in its jaws, saliva dripping from its long incisors.

Odottaa managed to jump backwards in time and performed a weak flurry with his blades to put a temporary wall between them. Then fired three more shotsat the rancor and examined his surroundings for anything that could be used to fight the creature. The only things he noticed were some small bones and rocks, and of course the eggs, but he wouldnt sacrifice them to this monster, they had done nothing in life yet, and they were worth money.

The rancor saw the small spinning metal objects, but didnt seem to care about them. He charged forward at the elephant like creature and pounded his fists on the ground, showering them both with small pebbles. two of the blasts came at him and missed, but the third managed to hit his upper arm, burning it rather badly. the rancor clutched his burnt arm with his good hand and roared even louder, making the cave shake and release pebbles even more. the pebbles also grew in size, and number. the cave would not withstand much more damage.

Pelted by a storm of pebbles, odottaa had an idea, and got out a small concussion grenade. He ran forward to grab a few eggs and held them tightly to his chest as he ran out of the cave. as he left he threw the grenade at the entrance, hoping it would collapse and kill the bull rancor, giving him enough time to escape to his ship and cash in on the prizes.

The rancor didn't notice the imminent cave collapse, and hardly noticed when yet another small round object slammed into its side. It bellowed and charged at the intruder, rage overtaking its mind. However, before it could take two steps, something opened up and slammed forcefully into its stomach propelling it backwards. It landed on the ground heavily, confused about what could have thrown it like that, and that's when it noticed that the cave began to collapse completely...

He examined his prizes as he ran to his ship. He prepared it for lift off and set his destination for the Hapes cluster. He would make enough money here to maybe settle down on some obscure planet and live the rest of his life in contentment, with no interference from either the empire, or the republic, or whatever other government was put in place these days...

as punishment for your destruction of a rancor cave, next time you land on this planet, you will have to reconcile yourself with the locals, as you have violated their religion, and dishonored them.
here is a possibility for doing that.
one of the eggs you took has begun to hatch and make noise so that you can hear it, also it is force sensitive, and has the ability to develop a force bond with you before you gain force powers. the decision is yours. sell it for a hefty fee, or keep it for yourself and befriend it

Just as he was about to lift off, he heard a noise in the cargo bay. It was very faint, but he heard it. He walked back to the cargo area of his ship to find one of the eggs hatching. his first thought was to seperate it from the others and contain it until he returned to the planet, but that idea disappeared quickly. He looked into the eyes of the rancor as it had hatched, and immediately felt a connection with it. He wasn't sure what exactly it was he felt, but he knew he could not give this creature up. Using a second cage, he brought it up to the cockpit with him and proceeded to return to Hapes.

The Wild Animal NPC gives you permission to control the rancor yourself, as you have initiated the force connection with it, and it is now bound to you.
