The warm glow of Ambria's afternoon sun flickered brightly on the waters of lake Natth; contrasting with the deep, almost black water itself.
A hooded figure knelt at the softly lapping shore; he seemed to be examining the shore intently. After several minutes of wadding in the shores, he stood and drew back his hood. Rayn closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, opening himself up to the power that he felt here. He had scarcely felt such a raw welling of energies as he did here on the shores of Lake Natth.
In truth he had felt strong energies like this before- like the feeling he had while at the jedi camp on Borao, or even the nexus of dark energies at the Korriban temple. But the energies in this place had no light or dark, no emotional disposition- it was simply power.
The only other place he had felt this type of power was at the Grey Citadel. In fact, it was the order who had sent him here to Ambria; they had heard rumors of its unique nexus of energy here and had sent Rayn to discern its potential as a new site of operations for the Grey Paladins.
Rayn had been apart of the Paladins for almost two years now. In their order he had finally found a place where he felt he could serve a just cause. In the long days past, the Paladins had been a secretive offshoot of the Jedi order. Recently they have reformed in secret, thwarting imperial tyranny from the shadows- keeping themselves unknown by even the Jedi.
As Rayn began looking for a new area to survey he felt a sudden disturbance in the force. Far in the distance, many leagues across the black waters, he heard an almost inaudible thundering sound. The disturbance had lasted no more than an instant, but there was a wrongness in it... It felt as though the force had been torn apart for that split-second.
Rayn collected himself and began to sprint away from the shores- he had to find the source of this disturbance. It took him almost an hour to reach the cliff side beneath the shadows of which he had concealed his Bes'uliik. He quickly opened the canopy and leaped into the cockpit; immediately he activated his sensor systems. Shortly after he did so the sensors picked up an incoming craft entering the atmosphere nearby and heading for the place he had sensed the disruption.
"I do not have a good feeling about this..", he muttered.
He activated only his planetary repulsors rather that his main engine- deciding he did not want to be noticed until he knew what was going on- and headed out across the waters toward the other side of the lake.

Lake Natth was many kilometers in length and would take almost an hour for Rayn to traverse on only repulsors.
During his cruise however he began to feel two distinct presences from his destination area. The were clashing fiercely, making no effort whatsoever to hide their presences as Rayn had carefully been doing since he had arrived on the planet. They seemed familiar to him somehow-
Rayn's eyes widened as he realized he did know who it was.
Jeluvitas.....Then the other presence must be Marekis...What is going on...?
As he contemplated the meaning and possibilities of what he had discovered so far, another disruption in the force suddenly jolted his senses. On the other side of the lake he glimpsed a brief glowing which dissipated along with the feeling. He then decided to go a bit faster...

It was a peaceful moment on Ambria, in Marekis life in general. This was a rare moment indeed, but it was time to accept it and relax. Marekis had lain there in place slowly bleeding from his fight. If it weren't for the drugs he had taken before or his being a firrerreo he would be laying dead in the ashes of his master. What an awkward moment that would be. To kill someone for their lack of strength to die on top of them in the end. Poetic almost. He closed his eyes and laughed softly to himself.
Suddenly the lids to his eyes shot open. Something or someone is near. He looked to the sky to see a ship landing. He didn't recognize it right away, but it meant little. He was not in any condition to fight he needed to move. Can't be found like this, it meant certain death for sure. He got up and stumbled off to a hiding place. Not to far off from the ashes of his master. He wouldn't be able to make it far away.
He crouched there in the darkness, sure this could be his last thought. But something strange came over him. Something from that ship was very recognizable. Though he had never seen it before in his life. It meant little, but what if...

When he arrived, Rayn no longer sensed the presences he had before that last burst of force energy he had felt. Upon a careful approach he did not seem to see anyone at the site either.
He landed his fighter just off shore and climbed out to see the damaged terrain. The ground was torn up all around him; he noticed several glassy gouges in the ground as well- definite signs of lightsaber combat. As he surveyed the area he noticed many patches of now-melting ice and frost.
Jeluvitas was definately here...but where did they go? Aside from what he had found there was nothing here but a few small rock outcroppings.
Then he noticed a dark soot or ash piled in the center of the damage area. He wasn't sure what it was, but he saw that there were drag marks and small patches of it trailing away from the site. Rayn drew his beskad and walked slowly toward the small, jutting rock formation where the trail was leading. He noticed there was blood leading trailing there as well.
"I know you're there. Show yourself."

What was going on here? Rayn alive, Jeluvitas dead. The world has turned upside down! Marekis became angry at the still living Rayn in front of him. To see him still among the living after their climactic fight was an insult to his skills. Marekis tripped into view.
"Well isn't this a pleasant surprise."
He activated his saber in defense, but he wasn't sure what Rayn would do. He must keep his guard up.

Rayn studied Marekis warily. He kept his own presence suppressed, but he could feel the familiar waves of hate radiating from him. The feeling was less potent this time however- probably because of the condition he was in. Marekis looked battered and torn, and he was bleeding heavily from his stomach.
"Marekis...", he said acknowledging him, "What happened here? Where is your master?"

Marekis chuckled for a moment. He was no longer a master of anything. Regardless he pointed his saber over to the pile of ash which his masters remained.
"He's right over there. I wouldn't ask him for any favors though. He's slightly..."He let out a laughing sigh."Indisposed."
He lowered his saber back down to a defensive stance. This could set him off some how. Since the planning of his murder of his master, he had assumed he would be challenged regularly. He wasn't sure if Rayn was the type, but this could mean a war. Maybe a rival.

Rayn eyes widened slightly in surprise as well as furrowing in confusion. Though he was wounded, Marekis was opening himself up like a book in the Force right now. He seemed to have become stronger certainly, but he couldn't have been nearly powerful enough to confront Darth Jeluvitas in open combat.
"You defeated him..? Forgive me if I'm hesitant to believe you....he was a Sith Lord"

Marekis deactivated his saber. Rayn didn't seem to be any threat at this point. This could be a very bad idea, but he just didn't have it in him. He strolled over to Rayn and smeared some blood on his cheek.
"Oh it wasn't without it's hard work and-" He paused and poked at his open wound and cringed."-sacrifice. But I can certainly say I defeated him."
He stumbled away and sat himself down next to the ash pile. He stared at the hand on the ground, what was left of his former Master. At some point Jeluvitas planned to replace Marekis with Rayn as an apprentice. He smiled at the thought remembering how he proved himself. He stopped short of this of course, remembering who stood before him. He glared over his shoulder at him.
"An what about you twinkle toes. Your alive. Shouldn't that much mean the unexpected could happen. Certainly you were in a tight spot, I made sure of that. And I can't say I'm not a little... annoyed at the sight of you."

He did not sense any hostile intent as Marekis strode over to him, but Rayn kept his guard up none the less, ready to lop off the Fierrereo's hand if need be. When Marekis smeared the blood on his face he did not really mind, he knew he was just trying to provoke him.
"I didn't believe much in heavily relying on the Force before....and I still don't, but I can't deny that it seems to have a great plan, or fate ,or...something in store for us...", he paused for a moment and thought back, " It was a indeed a miracle that I survived on Hoth. It was a miracle that I survived infancy actually. And it doesn't seem like coincidence that we should meet again, and here of all places..."

Marekis shrugged and attempted to rise but the pain in this stomach forced him back down. He chuckled at it and leaned his head back and looked to the sky. He didn't believe in fate but it was quite a coincidence. He felt as if he should be attempting to murder him. Tear him apart. Make him SCREAM. But he only felt a sense of peace. The death of Jeluvitas was enough to tide him over. For the time being.
"Well whatever it means, I don't care. Now if you don't mind. I'll take my leave!"
He try to push himself up again rising to his feet at the least. He took a single step and quickly without warning, fell straight on his face. His stomach pressed onto the ground but he didn't feel much at this point. He felt more numb than anything.
"Or maybe I'll stay here awhile. But this is my choice!"

Rayn frowned and put his blade away, "You know even at that time on Hoth I did not want to fight y-", he paused for a moment, "-I did not mean you any ill will. I didn't want to kill you then and I won't attempt to do so now. Especially now. There would be no honor in it. " He offered Marekis a hand, "I have never had cause to hate you Marekis. I don't know what happened here, but I do know that you are not like your master."

Marekis looked up at his hand and cringed a moment. Wasn't sure if it was the sheer pain in his gut or the dislike of trusting Rayn, but he really didn't feel well about this. But he shrugged it off and grabbed his hand. Why not? He needed allies at this time.
"That's because I'm much better looking!"
He reached up and grabbed him hand and got up onto his feet. Damn it all if this didn't hurt. He walked towards his ship slowly, trying to null the pain as best he could.
"So what brings you to this neck of the woods?"

"Pure coincidence- or in this case, some might argue, fate. I can't tell you why at the moment, but I'm here to survey this area. Obviously you were here because of Jeluvitas." Rayn thought back for a moment to the strange disturbance he felt earlier, "...but how did he get here? I don't see any other craft around... Also I really don't think you should be flying on your own. You'll probably bleed out."
As they got closer to where their ships were Rayn studied Marekis'. "Are you sure you're fighter will even work? It looks a little beat up."

Marekis studied his fighter as they approached."Seems perfectly fine to me. This old girl has been through worse things than thi-"
He was interupted by a loud booming coming from the direction of his ship. In fact, it was his ship. It took a lot of damage by many of Jeluvitas's attacks and had finally kicked the bucket. Marekis smile worked into a gaping maw.
"Got two seats in your ship?"

Rayn couldn't help from a smile curling up on one side of his mouth.
No way he's evil....
"Don't worry there's plenty of room, but we need to get you some help quickly." He pressed a button on his wrist-com and opened the canopy to the Bes'uliik. He helped Marekis in and then jumped into the pilot's seat, "There is room enough for 2 plus back there so you should be able to lie down. And I know it's not exactly your specialty, but try to use your abilities to suppress your bleeding as much as you can. Do you know anything about healing or stasis trances?"

"I know how to make things bleed more but other than that, I'm at a loss."
He crutched his way onto the ship and la himself down. Marekis luckily was healing quite quickly on his own. But he still needed medical attention. He focused some force power to stop the bleeding from furthering. He stared at the back of Rayn's head. This guy is far to mellow.
"So where to doc?"

The engines began to whir as Rayn started up the systems and began to warm up the hyperdrive. He lifted off and headed for outer orbit. "If you're thinking I'm going to bring you to the Jedi, don't worry. I have some new friends who can help. You might even like them."
Once they had exited Ambria's atmosphere he activated the hyperdrive and headed to the place he now called home.
