On Kashyyyk, the Jedi are protected by the wookiees, who also hate the Empire because of its slave trade. the Jedi here specialize in the alter mind technique. The head master here is a Wookiee Jedi named Sorraco.

A few ships from the Coruscant enclave entered the system and touched down on Kashyyyk as soon as they could. The Jedi presence on Coruscant was done for, and for a handful of the exiles, Kashyyyk was to be their new home. They knew that there wasn't a very strong Imperial presence on Kashyyyk, if at all--thanks to the Wookiees, so they broadcast a weakly encrypted signal over the planet containing the long 'lost' Jedi code as proof of identity and a request for landing coordinates. Once that was taken care of, they dropped into the thick trees, going down and down until they reached one of the near-inhospitably low levels. Once there, they began unloading their things and greeting the other Jedi. Kashyyyk. Their new home.

Odottaa was surprised at how easily he got off the planet with jedi on board. He touched down on the surface of kashyyk and began unloading the jedi on board to the new enclave. When he was finished, he began wandering around to find whoever it was that was supposed to pay him

Lirri nearly stumbled in shock once she stepped outside onto Kashyyyk. A blast of cool wind awoke her senses as she gazed up at the trees towering above her, the strong stench of swamp filling her nostrils. At once she felt thrilled and repulsed by the Wookie world. Having lived all of her life on Coruscant, which was technically a giant city unto itself, she could not have imagined a planet so un-industrialized. "Let's go," said Jedi Ashara. "And be careful, we're on a dangerously low level." "Level?" "Ground-level is treacherous here. Inhospitable. The Wookies don't normally come down here." Indeed, once Lirri's eyes adjusted to the light she realized that though it was daytime the forest was shrouded in semi-darkness. The high branches of the wroshyr trees blocked the majority of the sunlight. "So when do I get one of those?" Lirri asked aburptly, pointing at the lightsaber clipped to Jedi Ashara's belt. "When you are ready," he replied. "Most would say that you are too old, but we live in desperate times. Come, let's go to the enclave." Lirri followed the other Jedi and the padawans to the enclave, unsure how her new life as a padawan on Kashyyyk would turn out.

She could feel the Force. Lirrr's knees hurt from kneeling on the hard, wooden platform on a wroshyr tree, but she kept still. Insects buzzed around her face, a constant nuisance on this swampy world. The sun was beginning to rise. She closed her eyes and felt the Force swirl about her like an invisible wind, a wind she could not yet fully grasp. "Our shift is nearly over," said Valin, a fellow padawan. "We should go." She turned off the scanner and took one last look at the morning sky. No Sith ships. So far. Lirri followed Valin down a ladder back to the Jedi enclave, her mind lingering on the Force. For the past few weeks she had been training among the younglings, learning the basics of using the Force. She had been resentful of training with the children, but now it didn't seem to matter. All of those meditations and training helped her sense the Force, something she couldn't do before. Now all she had to do was learn how to grasp it. In a few moments her foot touched the platform. Beside her, Valin turned on a lamp. Lirri was still amazed about how drastically the light changed from level-to-level. "Watch your step," she heard Valin say. "I think these boards need to be replaced." Valin's words went through her ears, although she did not comprehend them. Valin irritated her more than the other padawans, although today he was in his more tolerable moods. He had been training as a Jedi for years and years while Lirri only had a few weeks on her back. She could tell that the older padawans thought it hilarious that she was being taught amongst the younglings instead of with a proper Master. As he talked she called hesitantly upon the Force. Just a little nudge on the back of his head to scare him-- She pushed. The power rushing through her was surprisingly strong. Startled, she watched in horror as Valin was thrown back from her Force-push over the edge of the platform. Lirri sprinted to the edge of the platform and watched his lamp grow fainter. "VALIN!" she yelled, cupping her hands around her mouth. "Are you alright?" The light stopped. Faintly, she heard a reply. "Damn it, Lirri! Master Ashara told you not to meddle with the Force until you're ready!"

In a sudden panic Lirri knelt to the edge of the platform, her heart thumping madly as she gazed into the inky blackness. She could barely see Valin's pale face glaring up at her, his body tangled within the branches and vines of a wroshyr tree. "I'll get you out," she said, dashing to the other end of the platform to grab a coil of rope. "Catch." She threw down the rope. "I think my leg is broken. I won't be able to hold onto the rope." "Then I'll come down." "No, I don't want you to help me!" Valin replied angrily, "go get one of the Jedi or a Wookie." "I speak Basic, not Shyriiwook." Without waiting for Valin to protest she wrapped the other end of the rope around her waist, clutched the rope with a gloved hand, and flung herself into the darkness. She landed on one of the protruding tree limbs not far from the platform and looked down. Even in the dim light she could see Valin's twisted figure, his arms hugging a tree limb for dear life. His broken leg hung limply over the branch, and though he glared at her she could sense his pain. "How do you plan on getting me back up?" Valin asked wryly. "I must be twice your weight." Lirri hopped down to the next branch, her mind working furiously on a solution. She closed her eyes, trying to focus on the Force. If she were stronger, she could lift him back onto the platform. But she could feel nothing now. Lirri jumped to the branch where Valin sat, cold sweat pouring down her back as the branch creaked ominously. "Great, now what?" "I'm still think--" She stopped, her eyes widening as she peered into the darkness. Judging from the expression on Valin's face, she could tell that he sensed it as well. They were not alone. "Go back up!" he snapped. "Get Master Ashara!" Something rustled in the trees. She could hear sharp claws digging into the tree bark. The branch creaked again. Lirri placed a hand on the blaster hanging on her hip just as Valin's fingers closed around the handle of his lightsaber. The lamp began to flicker, bringing them to near-complete darkness. "I can't leave you here!" she whispered frantically. "Not wi--" A low, guttural growl issued from the darkness. Both of them looked up to find a large beast hanging from a tree limb above them, its rat-like tail swishing back and forth in excitement. "A Katarn," Valin whispered. The Katarn leaped onto their branch and crawled forward, still growling. Lirri cried out in fright as a visible crack appeared in the tree limb, her stomach turning over as the branch crumbled under the extra weight. She held up the blaster. As soon as she fired the Katarn recoiled in fear, but immediately leapt over her towards Valin. Lirri spun around just in time to see the other padawan ignite the blue lightsaber, his face set in a grimace. Lirri nearly fell off the branch as it cracked again, although she had to let go of the blaster to save herself. Valin's lightsaber hummed as he swung it about, trying to avoid the swiping claws of the Katarn. For a moment she stood there dumbstruck, utterly at a lost as to what to do next. Valin cried out in pain as one of the creature's claws tore a gash in his chest. Lirri closed her eyes again, but this time she felt something. She ventured out with the Force towards the creature's mind, repulsed by the savage nature of the Katarn. It was nothing like a human's mind. The Katarn paused and cocked its head in curiosity. Without hesitating Valin stabbed the beast through the chest. With a dying yelp the creature stumbled off of the branch and fell into the darkness below. Valin turned off his lightsaber and clipped it back onto his belt, his eyes wide. He touched the wound on his chest, examining the blood on his fingers with disbelief. A loud barking noise came from above. Lirri looked up to see a Wookie leap down towards them, a swarm of Jedi and padawan gathered on the platform up above. Master Ashara was among them, his arms crossed and his head-tails twitching in irritation.

A crowd of Jedi, padawans, and Wookies gathered inside the Twinkie enclave. Lirri could feel their eyes upon her as she knelt before Master Ashara, a scowl on her face. "The marble is not something to take lightly," Master Ashara said sternly. "Jedi are the peacekeepers of the galaxy, not mischievous children." Lirri stared at the floor, trying her best not to snap back. For years she took care of herself and disliked the Twinkie telling her what to do. After a moment's pause she made herself look up at Ashara, allowing a mysterious bag of marbles to surround her. Master Ashara glared down at her. "You've picked up some bad habits. a mysterious bag of marbles may be strong with you, but your mind tricks won't work on me." A Wookie pushed his way through the crowd, yelling in his strange yelping language. Several of the Twinkie gasped at the Wookie's words, although Lirri could not understand. "Sith troops have landed on Kashyyyk?" asked Master Ashara. The Wookie spoke again, some of his companions confirming details with one another. "Good, they don't know where we are," muttered Ashara. "But Wookies have been peed on." Lirri slowly pushed herself to her feet as the Wookie continued to report. "They're still fighting. Where's Master Sorraco? I must speak with him." Master Ashara and other Twinkie moved towards the entrance of the enclave, but Ashara paused. "I forbid you to leave the enclave, Lirri." "Yes, Master," Lirri replied stiffly.
*Edit by Lents: Master Beckoaret went to Ossus, not Kashyyyk--the head Jedi here is Master Sorraco (a Wookiee).

For the next few days the enclave was in a state of high panic. For all her natural curiosity Lirri was forced to stay inside the dark enclave, resigned to menial tasks and chores as the others prepared for battle. The only other people ordered to stay inside the enclave were the younglings. Today, however, Master Ashara took her aside. He handed her a wooden staff. "Normally we wait longer for saber training, but we need all the help we can get." The Twi'lek also held a staff. Lirri was both excited and nervous at the prospect of learning how to use a lightsaber. Back on Coruscant she was content with the safety of her blaster. She was not an athletic type and secretly preferred the blaster, but someday she would have to learn. "We will begin with the basic forms."

After hanging around the enclave for a while, Odottaa began to get stir crazy. He just decided to up and leave the planet and get back to his work, now that all of this Lents business was over. He and his rancor left for deep space, and set the coordinates to the major hyperspace lanes. He would find something when he got there, but for now, he would just enjoy the silence of himself and his companion, without the electric buzz of all the nervous jedi everywhere. It was about time anyways. He was quite tired of their pompous morality anyways.

She didn't really pay that much attention to all the orders that were said amongs the Jedi Masters. They had been prepairing for the worst, and making sure all the padawans were in a safe area at least. Giving them something to do, like practice their forms. But she wasn't even focused on that. She knew better. While all the younger kids and teenagers had willingly followed the orders and began to preform their duties, Ailurec didn't. She just sat on the floor, and staired at the door. Her arms folded over her knees, partly in boredum, and other reasons for the grief she still felt. A sigh escaped her mouth and she stood up slowly. Her lightsaber was still clipped to her belt. Maybe if she wasn't seen she could at least get a breath of fresh air. And heck, dangerous or not that never stopped her. She pushed the door open slowly and open just enough for her to squeez out of. the hallway was a long and narrow one. it was dark and didn't have many windows, if any at all. The little sunlight from outside filtered in, but she kept walking forward. Ailurec sighed but still smiled. She was always the optomistic type, and she intended to stay that way. The door to the main enterence finally appeared as she turned a corner. She was about to open it when she heard a few voices talking outside. Being quiet she paused, trying to listen to the muffled words of the pair. Ailurec closed her eyes and tryed to feel if either of them had powers with the force. One of them seemed to have a faint amount, but nothign signifficant for anything like a Sith, and the other she couldn't sense at all.

Her eyes bairly opened before the large metal door had slamed open. And right into her face. "Guh!!" She gave ou a cry as her head shot back a bit, her feet stumbeling and causing her to fall back onto her butt. Pain shot through her nose and temples. Ailurec pulled her hand back from her nose to see it covered in blood. "Damn it!" She cured as she tried to look up to see who or what had opened the door. Her right hand on her lightsaber hilt the entire time.

The door flew open, and Maximus heard a curse. "Damnit!" Maximus stepped in the room, his rifle scanning the area. He looked down, and saw a young girl sitting on the ground. Her hand rested on the hilt of a ligthsaber blade. A jedi. Damn. This was going to make things more complicated. He had taken two steps and already he was in trouble. What else was new. Maximus trained his rifle on the young girl. "Dont move," his robotic voice sounded,"take your hand away from the weapon, and stand up nice and slow."

Ailurec looked up at him, her eyes lockin on what she thought were his. She didn't say anything, and pulled her hand away from her nose now. Not caring that it started to drip blood down the front of her face a little. Her hand never moved from the hilt though, but she did stand. "Under who's orders." She asked seriously. "I don't think you have any authority to call that out." She knew she had no chance. None, she was only a padawan. And being by herself she couldn't send someone to get help from one of the masters either. She tryed to think of what her own master would have wanted her to do. She had to hold her ground. "You lower your weapon." Ailurec glared at him.

"Under the authority of my blaster round putting a nice round hole in your chest, I say put your weapon down or I WILL kill you." Maximus charged his blaster and an electronic whirring could be heard.

Ailurec knew she had to let go of the lightsaber. She wasn't experienced enough at ALL to fight a man like this. If it was even a man to begin with. She brought her arm up, whipping the blood from her nose and continued to glare at the mass of armor. Finally she let go of the weapon, she knew she had to tell someone that he was here. With her reflexes she drew in the force and jumped backwards. Or at least attempted too. If she could just make it out the door and lock it.... it would give her enough time.

Maximus anticipated such a move. This jedi wasnt that experienced to want to run away so quickly. She had to be a padawan, or at the very least a really cowardice jedi knight. Maximus reacted quickly. He raised his left arm at the jedi, who was in midflight. He gave the neural command to his suit's grapple to launch. The cord shot out of the barrel on his left arm and wrapped itself around the women's ankles. The cord pulled taught and the women fell to the stone floor.

Ailurec resisted the gasp she wanted to let out, and felt the quick tug ather ankle. Before she could react she had fallen to the floor with a hard thud. Her head hitting it a bit. But not as bad as her hip. Her hand reached down to her lightsaber and reacted quickly and ignited it. She sat up and slashed at the metal chain, severing it. Ailurec rolled onto her feet and faced him. She held her lightsaber in defensive position and watched the mans move. No matter what happend she couldn't get out of this now. Not without being badly hurt.

Maximus watched the destroyed hilt fall to the ground. He moved toward the girl- - and walked right on past her. He just wanted to take a look around to see what was going on. What was it that the sith had wanted on Kashyyk?
