Falling. Her world lurched sideways, flinging her across the cargo bay and into the metallic wall, which soon became the floor as the ship barreled out of control. Her hands reached upwards, frantically clawing at the air in an attempt to grab hold of something, anything. Warning signals whined in the brunette’s ears, telling her that the ship’s capacity was less than ten-percent and that if something was not done soon, the system would hit complete failure. The jump to hyperspace had dwindled the freighter’s power to almost nothing, but she would have been long dead if she hadn’t at least tried to escape the ambush. With limited firepower, there would have been no chance of survival. It was lucky enough that she had been able to steal the barge and have a successful takeoff in the first place. Moving along the ground (had it originally been the ceiling?), Natalya began pulling herself toward the control center, gritting her teeth against the searing pain in her head. With effort, she clambered over a couple of crates that were hurled her way, thankfully not hitting her, and crawled army-style toward the ship’s controls. Clutching onto the pilot’s chair, she partially pulled herself up to her knees, not trusting her legs to keep her standing, and began fiddling with the system. Her brain quickly began producing codes and numbers that she deftly punched into the computer, activating the holoscreen. Licking her dry, cracked lips, she swallowed and looked directly into the screen.
“This is freighter MC18, requesting assistance. Cannot override system failure,” she rasped as she began rattling off the coordinates, “Please, in the name of the stars!” she yelled, breaking protocol, “If there’s anyone out there… Help. Nexu, out.” Breaking the connection, she hazily began flipping switches, hoping to power down the vessel before it could explode.
“System capacity, four-percent.”
“I kriffing know!” She screamed, slamming her fists into the controls. Natalya ran her fingers through her sweat-soaked hair, that shock of pain piercing through her brain once more. She breathed in sharply through her teeth, hissing as she clasped both hands to her head as though trying to keep cerebral matter from erupting from her skull. Memories from earlier flashed through her mind.
“System capacity, one-percent. Warning. Warning.”
Choking back a sob, she outstretched her hands and continued pressing buttons and punching in codes, trying to override the system. She couldn’t die here, not like this. Her dark eyes flicked up to the window where stars blurred together, spinning like some sort of celestial dance as the freighter careened through the black. The Coruscanti woman’s fingers trembled over the controls as she watched the stars turn red. She blinked and her vision became a blur of crimson, causing her to reach up and wipe at them. Her fingers came up dark with blood.
“System failure. System failure.”
Looking up as though the voice had come from above her, she swallowed, trying to force down the thick saliva that coated the back of her throat, and made one final attempt. With a cry of frustration, she hit at the controls with all the strength she had left. Suddenly, the lights blinked out and the engines whined before dying completely.
“Override accepted. System powerdown.”
With a sigh, she slipped to the floor, falling to unconsciousness as the lifeless ship calmly floated through the great expanse.

[[ Original Thread ]] Flashback:
Once Cassus had left her to her room, Natalya sat down on the bed jutting from the wall and observed the room. It was on the small side, but it had been kept neat and orderly as though expectant of guests. She thought about the live bounties he probably had and wondered if they had occupied the same room before being led to their demise; traded for reward. Maybe that was a bit absurd. She could feel DRK’s watchful sensor and turned to look at the droid, chewing on her thumbnail thoughtfully. It’s red “eye” stared at her for a moment, perhaps just as thoughtful, before its robotic voice tentatively broke the silence. “Will you… name me?”Her brows shot up. “Name you?”“Yes,” it paused as though embarrassed for suggesting such a thing, “living things all have a name. You even have several. I feel alive - you brought me life, so it would only be proper for you to name me.”“I’m not very good with names,” she smiled empathetically at the floating AI, “but how about…” Her eyes locked onto the sensor. “Red?”“Red.”She blanched. “Sorry, I told you I’m not very good with names. It’s such a simple name when I-”“No, I like it.” She stopped. The droid observed her with childlike curiosity before reaching a claw out to delicately push a strand of hair out of her face. Natalya watched silently, confused by such humanlike interaction. “Red,” it said, “Basic for a vibrant color, one that can be seen in the scarlet void of the Red Nebula. Stars see this color first when they are born, and last when they die. It’s a color whose beauty was once seen in the pelt of the deer that inhabited the woods of Alderaan and whose power in the redcrested cougar who feared nothing and devoured all. This color that you call simple is all. It is all I see. I think it is a wonderful name, thank you, Mistress Natalya.”Reality:Cold. Everything was cold. She could feel the dramatic drop of temperature, but her eyes remained closed. With her lack of energy, she drifted back to sleep. “Aria, I could use a hand, sweetheart.”Flashback:It was not long until they were approaching Endor and Cassus had poked his head into the room to call her to the command deck. She followed him, seating herself in the co-pilot’s chair where she looked over at the bounty hunter curiously. “So what exactly do you need me for again?”“There are a couple of systems I’ll need you to trip so we can get to the center of the base undetected. They’ll know we’re here, but that should buy us some time. Won’t hurt to have you when it comes to combat either, darlin.” He ignored her glare, smiling broadly as he guided the ship just over the tops of the trees to find a clearing, causing the slicer to grimace and secure her swoop helmet uncomfortably. She vaguely acknowledged as he pointed out the location of the ruins of the Death Watch Bunker a couple miles to the west and nodded as he began explaining its significance. Natalya really could not have cared less about the Mandalorian Civil War, never having appreciated the value of history. They were all just memories of the past anyway. When Cassus had found a clearing large enough for his ship, she only half realized the ship was landing. In her head she was repeating over and over, “This is not a safe mission. Scrub it. Scrub it.”☆★☆★ The air was glorious. Natalya breathed it in ravenously, never having inhaled oxygen so clean in her life. A pleasant shiver ran down her spine and for a moment she forgot about the misfortunes that had befell her in the past and life was wonderful. But the feeling came to an abrupt end when Cassus shouldered past her, jostling her from her dreams. Her plump lips formed a scowl and it was all she could do to keep herself from strangling him. “So where in Chaos are we going?” She looked over at the back of Cassus’ head, rolling her eyes when he didn’t respond. “Come on, let’s just get this over-” He held up a hand to silence her. “It’s quiet.”The brunette could see what he meant. The clearing was completely empty with no signs of active forest life. Her eyes flickered around to the tall redwoods that surrounded them. Like a prison.“Let’s keep moving.” She couldn’t agree more. The weight of the blaster he had leant her suddenly felt like a security blanket at her hip. “The alum mines are about a five mile walk. Think ya can handle it, sweets?”“Kriffing Chaos, aren’t you a pain in the choobies… Let’s just go.” He grinned as she shoved him aside and started walking past him. “Other way, princess.”She turned and started walking in the direction he indicated, muttering under her breath. “Go frag yourself.”

She had pictured the forest moon of Endor differently, somehow. It was supposed to be more… alive. It was supposed to be a relief from the noisy city streets and the dangers of the Blue Sector. Yet, this seemed more dangerous than ever. It felt as though all was lying in wait for them, eyes trailing their every step. Even the trees were watching. Watching, waiting… Waiting for them to make the wrong move. They traveled in silence, even the AI’s hum no more than a whisper as it hovered behind Natalya. As the sun began to set, their steps became hurried, almost frantic; they did not want to be caught in the middle of the forest at night, alone with those watching trees.
Something moved.
Natalya stopped, knowing she saw something out of the corner of her eye in the trees a few paces off. Her fingers twitched as they landed on the blaster, muscles tightening as she prepared to make a quick draw. Up ahead, Cassus had also come to a halt, his back still to her. Before she could react, he had drawn his blaster and in one, quick movement had pivoted on his heel, shooting a single bolt.
Something dropped to the ground with a thud.
Without any further instruction, the slicer ran towards it, her heart beating fiercely. She thought she heard Cassus yell out to her to stop, but it was too late. In one second, she was looking down at the furry carcass of something roughly the size of a small child, still smoking from the blast, and the next second she was surrounded. But they weren’t Ewoks like she had thought they would be. No, the young Ewok the bounty hunter had shot down had only been bait. They were tall. Robed.
Everything started moving in slow motion. She slowly placed her hands behind her head and sank to the forest floor, feeling that her impending doom was inevitable. She was going to die. That kriffing bounty hunter had used her as a distraction and he had surely left her to her fate. One of the figures above her moved, but she did not lift her eyes from the ground. The figure jerked and there was a sharp pain in her head. As a final thought, she realized she had been struck with the butt of a blaster rifle, and then slipped into the delicious numbness of unconsciousness before her head even hit the ground.

As she came to, she could hear voices; strange voices she had never heard before that were muffled as though speaking underwater. Her head hurt. Sighing softly, she attempted to reach up and touch it, but found that her hands were firmly bound behind her back. The voices ceased. Her mind was a jumble of numbers and frequencies, codes she didn’t understand. Darkness and light. Time and space. She felt like throwing up. The brunette felt a hand beneath her chin, lifting her face towards the light. Her eyes half opened, but it was no use - everything was blurry. Natalya thought she heard the one above her ask a question, but all she could think about was that constant drumming of numbers against the back of her eyes. She felt drained of energy and longed to curl up in a soft, warm bed and sleep.
A slapping sound filled the room. Her cheek stung. It wasn’t enough.
A harder, more forceful slap that flung her head to the side. She heard a voice emerge from the waters, speaking crystal clear. “Hah… Is that all you’ve got?” It was her own. Fists. The blurriness in her eyes was beginning to sharpen and she could see several armored figures in the room, faces hidden behind angular helmets. She could taste blood.
Natalya groaned and slowly tried to straighten in the chair, but her shoulders remained slumped. “Make the numbers stop.” The fists stopped. There was murmuring and one of the figures stepped forward, his voice sounding mechanical inside the helmet.
“Who are you?”
“Aria… Aria Xenos.”
“Who are you?”
Her eyes narrowed and she raised her head to look at the one speaking, her body slowly swaying in the chair. “I told you.”
“We know that is not you real name, Nexu. You have been traveling with an enemy, which thereby makes you an enemy. You are in no position to hold information against us. Who are you?”
“If I tell you, will tell me who you are?” A slap stung her bruising cheek. “Natalya.”
“Natalya who?”
“Natalya Thurinos! For Chaossake…” She was frightened. Her voice was high and thin like a string about to be snapped. The brunette licked her dried lips with a tongue coated in blood. There was silence as they seemed to somehow communicate with one another without words.
“You were traveling with a rogue Mandalorian named Cassus Orade. He is wanted for mutiny with our people. It is our guess that he was attempting to breach security in the alum mines to forge himself a new suit of armor and steal weapons for a conquest against the Manda’lore. No need to answer, we know you are aware of this situation. He needed you to help him slice into the systems, yet you did not know that he was going to have you help him exterminate an entire race. Did you, Miss Thurinos?”
She did not. “It… I… I need the credits.”
“What are the codes, Miss Thurinos?”
“I...what? What are you talking about?”
“The codes running through your mind. You cannot get them out. What are they?”
“How do you know…” I told you this was an unsafe mission, the numbers taunted in her head, I told you to scrub it. Natalya shook her head fiercely to clear her mind and then looked back up at him.
She imagined the face behind that blank helmet smiling, in fact she could hear it in his voice as he spoke. He was amused. “We can feel it.”
A chill went down her spine as she looked up at the figures in the room, finally gauging her surroundings. She was in a small, windowless room with crates stacked in one corner. Seven of the armored figures stood behind the one speaking to her who was obviously the leader; there was also one to the side who had been the one inflicting pain whenever she did not give a satisfactory answer. She guessed he was also the one who hit her in the forest. The Enforcer. Nine… That made nine total. Their armor seemed familiar and she realized that it was very similar to the kind Cassus wore. Robes were clasped with a strange insignia at their throat, now flung back behind their shoulders, hoods back. She could vaguely hear mechanical noises coming from above.
“I don’t know what to tell you… I don’t know what they mean. And even if I did, why the karking Core would I tell you?”
Without an answer, the leader held up a vibroblade. Looking closely, Natalya realized it was her vibroblade. She felt something burn fiercely in her chest. He stepped forward slowly and activated the blade, holding it aloft as he gazed at it in the light.
“Interesting choice of weapon.” The Mandalorian leaned toward her until she could see the reflection of her face in his helmet. It was bruised. Blood was seeping from her hairline and out of the corner of her mouth. She grinned cadaverously.
“Thank you,” she snarled. In a quick movement, he held it to her throat. He was so fast, she barely saw him move. “So kill me.”
“Not yet.” He brought his elbow up and across, striking her temple with a blow that brought instant darkness.

Skeang left his ship cautiously. The ship that he had found was quite wrecked. He attempted to dock the ships the best he could. He found himself lucky that he did not require air which allowed him to survive for a short time in space. He entered the unknown ship cautiously, so not to get caught off guard and to make sure that whoever was inside was not further harmed by his entrance. He noticed a female body lying helpless in the ship. He carried the girl back to his ship turning her over to Sarvina (as he knew very little about what was required for life on any humanoid creature). Sarvina spoke to Skeang attempting to make him fly off. "I'm no medical expert but this one here appears to have passed out from a few nasty falls and a her ship leaking air probably contributed. She won't be out long now that shes is out of the danger and my pheromones should be calming her muscles." "Well it beats going all that way for nothing." Sarvina taunted Skeang "You know master if you save every pretty girl in danger I might get jealous." "I would of saved whoever was in that ship." "Sure sure, whatever you say. I am keeping this one tied up encase she tries anything when she gets up." "Doesn't that seem a little harsh? "Not if shes worth something." Skeang sighed... his apprentice still had a long way to go. Sarvina tied up there new passenger and sat herself near her staring intently. Skeang who at this point was frustrated with the whole situation flew off toward Basalisk.

Time seemed to crawl by, each second weighing heavily as the Mandalorians continued their brutal quest for the codes nestled inside the defenseless woman’s head. She did not know what they wanted them for, and, as they gave her no explanation, refused to tell them. Natalya felt as though they could only inflict so much harm on her before giving up; the information she had was precious to them and she reasoned that this was the exact cause why they could not kill her. As soon as she gave them what they wanted, she would be dead.
Suddenly, the door opened and two Mandalorians entered, a floating sphere between them. Rage built up inside her chest, her heart beating wildly as she watched them bring in her droid. Its sensor seemed dimmer than usual, but the AI was relatively unharmed. It whirred with concern as it scanned her, seemingly afraid by the look of wrath on her face.
“It still refuses to tell us the location of Orade.”
“The droid is useless to us.”
“Not quite,” the leader said slowly, turning towards Natalya. “She values the droid. You can see it in her eyes… They burn with anger.” That edge of amusement cut into his voice once more. “If she had the same power flowing through her veins as her brothers, we might find ourselves in trouble.”
The group laughed. Natalya looked at them incredulously.
“How did you know about my brothers? What do you know about them!” How the kriff did they know so much about her? Her blood boiled. Closing her eyes, she drew in a deep breath and smiled, her voice calm, “I will never tell you the codes.”
The laughing ceased. “Very well then.” The brunette looked up as the leader motioned for Red, who trilled uneasily as it was brought forward. Something flashed in his hand, but before Natalya could cry out, it was too late. With a flurry of sparks and a high pitched squeal, her vibroblade was plunged into the small droid which crackled and fell to the floor with a devastating crunch. She stared at it for a moment, feeling as though the wind had been knocked out of her.
Another armored figure entered the room, but she could not lift her eyes from the sparking droid at her feet. Red’s sensor was dark.
“We found him.” All attention snapped to the newcomer. “Orade. We caught him in the mines.”
With a curt nod, the leader stepped briskly from the room, the others following. The airlock snapped closed and she was alone. “Red..?” A garbled mix of alien languages were uttered in response. “I’m going to fix you, I promise. I’m so sorry that I brought you into this mess. Those karking Mandos are going to pay for what they’ve done.” A thin arm extended from the droid and in a last effort, pulled out the vibroblade, weakly extending it to Natalya. She blinked. Leaning forward, the slicer wiggled in her chair enough to turn and let the cables binding her arms be snapped. Rubbing her sore wrists, she slowly stood, immediately regretting it and feeling lightheaded. But there was no time. Natalya delicately took the vibroblade from Red’s claw, sheathing it, and then scooped up the shorting out DRK unit. Limping over to the airlock, one ankle having been brutally smashed by a hammer during one particularly painful session, she keyed in the code and it opened with a hiss. No one was around. If there was, I would kill them. Her eyes burned fiercely as she began to hobble down the corridor.
Reality:
Natalya sighed. She had been dreaming. Dreaming of dark, metallic shapes that were coming to get her. Dreaming of her brothers. Dreaming of access codes.
Her eyes snapped open. Where… Was she? Groggily, she lifted her head, groaning at the sharp pain that throbbed in her temples. She attempted to move her arms, but found that they were once again tied securely and felt a pang of defeat. So they had caught up to her and recaptured her. She shouldn’t have sent out that S.O.S. Death on the freighter would be more welcoming than what they would do to her now that she attempted to escape. “You destroyed my droid, you sons of Banthas… I’m going to karking kill every last one of you.” Focusing her eyes, she prepared herself for torture, but it did not come. Instead, she found herself face to face with a young Zeltron. She stared for a long moment, her brows furrowed in confusion. “And now I’m hallucinating.”

Skeang heard the woman he had saved wake up, he was uneasy in the presence of someone new. He was sure his appearance would scare or disgust even more than normal, so he put his cloak on as quickly as he could. Frankly he was becoming disgusted with his own appearance, his thin Gen'dai skin had begun to regrow over his muscles. He was used to so much combat that his skin would never have the time to regrow and the spotty purple and red skin seemed foreign to him. He wondered it would even attempt to regrow with all the action he had been experiencing lately. Sarvina who was sitting only feet from Natalya noticed her wake as well. At this point she ceased her pheromones realizing that at this point easing her pain was no longer needed. She had not thought much how to deal with whoever was now in the ship, her mind was more on food then anything else. All she knew was that there was a new female on board who her master had gone to a bit of trouble to save, she (as with the rest of her kind) was incapable of jealousy but she desired to show dominance over whoever was unfortunate enough to lay before her. Sarvina attempted to giggle at the disorientation that the woman was experiencing, "Hey Skeang this one might have more of a head injury then I thought shes not thinking straight." Her expression turned sharp and rigid as she stared at the woman. "You ought not make threats you aren't prepared to back up. You got very lucky that my master decided to pick you up." Sarvina got close and whispered to Natalya. "Would you happen to have any food? Its been four days since I've eaten." She began to play with her dagger rather close to Natalya. "If I don't get something soon you might just be on the menu because.." She was cut off by a shout from Skeang followed by a knock on something that was able to shake the entire room. "Sarvina I have heard your stomach growl for almost two days straight now what makes you believe I can't hear you clearly even while driving? Sarvina sighed before moving back several feet. She gave Natalya an angry stare pointing her vibrodagger at her then back at her own stomach. She put on a very fake tone of voice saying "Well then may I ask who you are? Or how you ended up in such a dire situation."

She watched the Zeltron warily, eyes following her movements, but she was relatively unconcerned. This girl could not scare her and she was growing tired of her antics. “You can’t hardly justify the pleasantries if you have me tied up.” Her dark eyes regarded Sarvina before closing, her head resting against the floor as she seemingly began to ignore her. After a long pause, she looked back at her, the Coruscanti woman’s expression having softened. “I can’t remember the last time I ate either. I don’t even know what day it is.” She slowly pulled herself into a seated position. Just because they rescued her from the lifeless freighter didn’t mean that she could trust them. She opted for one of her slicing names and a lie. “I’m Jade Starbender and I was attacked by pirates. They beat me to a pulp and took everything I have. I’m guessing you’re Sarvina, but I’m not sure who your master is. I’m guessing he’s the one piloting this thing. But I’m thankful to both of you and I owe you my life. I’d pay you if those space rats hadn’t taken it all.” Suddenly, she straightened, her eyes wide as she remembered something. “My droid. It was on the freighter. You didn’t happen to rescue it too, did you?”

Skeang knew that prolonged dialogue between Sarvina and this woman named Jade would result in him having to intervene so he decided to do such preemptively. He indicated for Sarvina to take the controls taking several steps toward Jade being cautious to keep himself covered. "I apologize for my new apprentice's rudeness. She has recently been through quite a bit of turmoil and through that has ended up in my care. Before I teach her anything about fighting I plan on working the kinks out of her behavior." He then extended a single finger from his robed stiffening it to a point and slicing the ropes that were used to tie Jade. "Unfortunately I did not come across the droid though it was more then likely my mistake. I was more concerned with getting the more fragile objects off the ship. We will be headed back that way shortly, this ship is currently on the way to Basilisk to round up a group of criminals to make a little money. We will be heading back the same way to get to Coruscant and it appeared that your ship was not going anywhere." Skeang paused for a moment and extended a hand to Jade "I am Skeang."

Her gaze flicked up to the cloaked figure who stepped forward, her fears momentarily returning as she thought back to the hooded silhouettes in the forest. But she calmed as the ropes were cut and she once again had the use of her arms. Shakily standing to her feet, she placed her hand against the wall for support and watched him closely. Natalya noted the fact that Sarvina was in an apprenticeship with this robed being and wondered what kind of trade they worked in; but she did not ask. When he explained that they would be heading back in the direction of the freighter, she sighed in relief and nodded slowly. “Alright. It should be fine on there until then. Thank you, Skeang.” She reached out and firmly took his hand, peering up at him curiously as she wondered whether it would be rude to ask what, exactly, he was. In all her travels across the galaxy with her pirate friends she had never seen anyone like him. Her fingers tightened for a brief moment and then she released. "So what kind of criminals are we talking about here?"

Skeang heard a momentary raise in heartbeat when this new person was studying him. He was not particularly surprised he knew that a sight such as him was uncommon. He attempted to speak warmly to her, "It was a small group of thieves who stole from a museum on Coruscant, this is a bounty hunt on them. The report estimated a small group between ten and fifteen but they fled to Basilisk so its safe to assume that they will have a large number. I am getting paid for returning the artifacts and for anyone I bring back alive. He paused for a second as for a moment his body shook with the excitement of the soon to come violence. It felt good but he remembered his master's harping about not allowing the anger or rage fuel him unless it was intentional. He regained his composure to say. "It shouldn't take too long at all. I am not sure what kind of trade you work in but if you are able to dodge the occasional shot we would love to have someone to tie up prisoners and make sure that they don't die before we get them back to Coruscant. We would gladly cut you in on some of the pay, with the condition of your ship I believe the money would be useful to you."

“Ah… So you’re bounty hunters?” It seemed as though a never-ending cycle. She nodded, looking down at her nails which were caked with blood and filth, and then shoved her hands into her pockets. “Yeah,” she said looking up, “I could use the credits. I slice for a living, but I don’t suppose that would do you any good in this kind of situation. I’m not bad in combat, however…” She looked down at her right ankle, gingerly placing weight on it, testing. Pain shot up her leg and she nearly crumpled forward, but she caught herself and rolled her shoulders back, shrugging it off. “Eh, yeah, I’m not bad in combat.” She quickly changed the subject. “I saw your apprentice uses a vibroblade? Glad to see I’m not the only one. Requires a lot of skill, it does, and I think anyone brazen enough to use ‘em is pretty astra.” The slicer smiled and held up a hand, giving the thumbs up. Natalya would definitely need the credits for the parts it would take to repair Red. She felt a responsibility for the droid and something deep inside tugged at her to finish what she started; she wouldn’t be like her brothers who dropped their family to join the Sith. No, she would not desert one of the only things that cared about her, duty aside.

Skeang saw Jade stumbling in pain he knew that explaining his situation was a bit difficult to some people. "The bounty hunting is a bit of a temporary fix for money while my actual job has come to an abrupt halt due to a shortage of leads. The combat suits me and my skills well. My true mission is more of less of a recruiter.." Skeang heard Sarvina call that they were nearing there destination he looked back at Jade. "If you plan on helping promise me you will not over exert yourself. The hardest part of this job will be keeping these fragile creatures alive once I get started with them."

“Recruiter? You work in the army or something? Or d’you mean some kind of religion? I don’t believe in any of that magic stuff.” She bit on her thumbnail, hoping she didn’t offend him. “Oh yeah, don’t worry about me. I appreciate you saving me and all, but I’m not your responsibility.” The mention of ‘fragile’ creatures piqued her attention and she raised a brow in question.

Skeang smiled for a moment explaining this to people often proved difficult, "Religion is a way of describing what I recruit for. Its more of a group dedicated to taking down one, the sith mainly. The person who trained is having me find dissenters from the sith and bring them to him for training to one day do combat against them." Skeang signaled Sarvina to land he had located where he believed the thieves to be his body began to react to his excitement for the oncoming violence. Sarvina yelled to Jade "Your in for quite the show."
Starting a thread in Basilisk now.
