It was on this very planet that the Sith first came to be. It became their home once more as Darth Krayt renewed the order under the Rule of One. Although the Emperor runs the Empire from Coruscant, the Korriban temple remains the main headquarters of Sith activity.
The temple is located several miles from The Valley of Dark Lords, which is now deserted and serves only as a memorial site.
There is no Sith discipline that is not taught on Korriban; and even though another enclave may be superior in teaching one particular area, all subjects can still be covered quite extensively here. Korriban does seem to have one specialty however, which is in producing very powerful force users. Even though many students are not able to comprehend the more intricate ways of Sith archaics, quite a number of students here regardless become adept in utilizing the force and being able to draw forth great power when using their dark side abilities. While it would seem that the instructors on Korriban excel in teaching their students about the dark side and drawing out their potential to use it, it may simply be that it is easier to become accustomed to it due to the force on the planet being so rich in dark side energies.
