"Oooooh! Are those the triple red and blue markings of an imperial captain I see? Ho ho ho congratulations Captain Starbuck!"
Janto the Hutt, Bartender for Janto's Imperial Liquor on Coruscant Imperial military base, turned to see Jack Starbuck walk in the bar with his fresh black dress uniform on with the markings of a Captain on his left breast.
"Damn right Janto, and you better respect it!" Starbuck said with a commanding presence, three seconds later his frown turned to a smirk "Now get me a drink you beautiful thing you" Janto turned to his drinks laughing "Hoho ho, anything for you good friend"
Jack smiled and looked down at the counter.
He and Janto had been good friends, since his very first day in the army. Janto always loved to here of Jacks outrageous stories the Grand Moff would send him and his Walkers off too. Janto himself was in the army many years earlier, but because of his sluggish body he was an inventory officer and that was it.
Janto turned around with a blue drink which Jack came to know as Twi'lek ale, it had very littler alcohol since Jack didn't drink that much.
"Soooooo, tell me howd it go!"
"Well we got what we were looking for"
Janto leaned in closer indicating he wanted more detail. Unfortunately most of Jack's missions were top secret and he couldn't tell anyone, however Janto was his friend who he could tell anything too. He did teach him how to speak in Huttsee, when sometimes if the mission was that secret he would speak in that language.
"A weapons dealer for the Jedi on Kashyyk" Starbuck said in Huttsee
"OOOOOHHHH, many Jedi there, did you run into any?" Janto said in the same language
"Thankfully no, the dealer was supposed to meet up with one that morning, but we got him before they had a chance to meet up."
"Well I am thankful for your safe arrival, but... who was the poor sap that got killed to let you become a captain?"
In the Gloom Walkers, one would not advance through rank by years of service, but it all depended if a person of Higher rank died and then the next runner up would take his place.
"Captain Jorn, he wasn't with us but, but apparently him and our two other guys died out in the outer rim on some support mission. They practically had the promotion ceremony ready when I got back to the ship."
"Do you suspect Jedi?"
"If it is I'll karking kill em"
Jack paused to take a sip of his ale.
"Do you really have anything against the Jedi? I mean do you know them that well?"
"Personally no, but they disrupt the peace the imperial government has worked so hared to bring about"
"And you believe that?"
"Haha hell no, I just do what they tell me too."
"Well, we'll let the sith deal with their little problem then, while you got your own."
Jack slowly turns his face sideways looking off in some other direction
"I could have been one of them Janto, I could've been a sith." His voice sullen and filled with sorrow.
"That you could've been Captain Starbuck, but with all honesty you'd make a better soldier anyway."
Jack looks up with disgust in his eyes
"And hows that Janto?"
"Simple, you care more about life. Them Sith don't care at all about any living being in the galaxy except for themselves. Hell they even get enjoyment out of watching things die. But you, you care. About the life of your men, about the people you fight for. Your a good person Jack, I'd hate to see it go to waste on some hoccum religion."
"Hell you would you passive sleemo"
Janto lets out a loud laugh, while Jack gets up to leave.
"Where do you suppose you'll go now?"
"I don't know, I promised to take the guys out to hit the town tonight, your welcome to come if you want."
"Ho ho ho my place is here buddy, but go out and have fun. When is the date for your next deployment?"
"Tomorrow" Jack said as he walked out the door
Janto stared at the door for a bit then smiled and continued cleaning his counter.
